We have tried to answer these same questions all through our website, but, in case you missed it, here are the answers. If you have questions you can’t find an answer to, please let us know. Other people probably have the same question.
A hoop or fabric building is a cost-effective, versatile structure with an arched steel pipe frame and a durable, UV-resistant fabric tension membrane, creating an open, obstruction-free space for a wide range of uses across many industries. You can find a more detailed explanation here.
Hoop barns are typically about half as expensive per square foot as a finished pole shed.
Pole barn roofs, whether steel or shingles, have about the same useful life as a fabric roof. You can re-roof your fabric shed at way less than half the cost.
Wood rots faster than metal corrodes. It’s a no-brainer for a lot of folks.
There are so many potential cost savings from a hoop shed compared to most conventional buildings that it’s hard to know where to start.
We want our customers to feel confident in their purchase, so our Manufacturer’s Warranty fully covers all of our hoop barns, ensuring peace of mind.
All of our Rushmore buildings are fully 100% guaranteed for 3 years. A prorated warranty covers our truss buildings for a total of 15 years, and our mono-tube buildings for a total of 5 years.

Our hoop barns are available in White, Blue, Green, Red, Sandstone, Grey, Silver, Brown, and Fog, or combinations of these colors. Custom stripes are available free.
We use 4 feet as a “standard height,” but that’s quite flexible. We recommend that you first decide what kind of clearance height you require and what building you need; then it’s easy to decide how high you want to build your wall, i.e., if you have a 12’ tall building but need 18′ clearance, you need a 6′ wall.
You do need at least a 2′ wall to properly tension your cover, however. We also do not recommend a pony wall higher than 8′ except in special circumstances.
Clear span is an architectural term used to describe the open space between load-bearing supports or posts. The spaces in a clear-span building can be divided with walls, but they don’t have to be; the exterior structure can support its own weight.
It is easy for a small building to be a clear span building. It doesn’t take very strong walls to hold up the roof on a 20′ wide or even 40′ wide shed. When you get into much wider, clearspan buildings that are often needed, lumber structures just can’t cut it. It generally requires very heavy steel to span long distances with no support. We go into more detail about clearspan buildings here.
We have Rushmore clear-span buildings up to 140′ wide, which are much more economical than a similar-sized steel building.
Fabric comes in huge rolls and is laid out in a huge building on a very clean floor. Then the fabric is heat welded into a cover that fits your exact building.
Our standard building covers are made of high-density polyethylene woven fabric. This fabric is 12.5 oz and offers long-term UV protection for a long life.
We also have fire-resistant and fire-proof covers available. Please call us to ask about these.
Hoop barns are better for almost all types of livestock. There, we said it. Now, what do we mean and why do we think so?
Hoop housing is definitely better than outside confinement. Several universities and state extensions have studied this in depth.
The major reason fabric hoop buildings are better for livestock than other buildings is air circulation. Air circulation is a key factor in animal health, and their “no corners design” design promotes good airflow for your livestock.
The difficulty in building a hoop shed depends almost entirely on the size. Small mono-tube buildings are well within the reach of the average farmer/handyman and require only a few hand tools to assemble. The hardest part of these smaller hoops is building the pony wall that it will sit on.
Large fabric-tension buildings are also easy to build; they come with complete instructions and bolt together like an Erector set. However, larger truss buildings require adequate foundations and equipment to allow you to work safely high in the air. For these reasons, we recommend a professional contractor.
Each building we sell is custom-made. Most of the year, we can custom-build your hoop building in 3 to 4 weeks. Depending upon where you live, it can take another week or two to deliver it.
Spring and late summer are our busiest times, so it can take twice as long to get your building. This can also be true of particularly large buildings.
We know hoop buildings. Our experienced team can help you find the building that best fits your needs and budget.
We have sold many brands of hoops over the years, and we feel the Rushmore buildings we are selling here are the best in fabric buildings. They are built more heavily yet at an economical price point.
We are a high-volume dealer, so we can get a great discount on our buildings. We pass that discount along to our customers. Enough said?
When you look at our hoop building pages, you’ll see that every hoop barn is available in many lengths, from short to unimaginable. Not only that, all of our barns have many options, from colors to curtains (ruffled unavailable). More about our pricing here.
We’re not a big, high-dollar outfit. We can’t put up a gazillion pages to price all of our products, but we’ve got big ol’ books and stuff to look them up for you. Just click here to call us!
Understanding that a pro rata warranty means coverage decreases as the product ages helps you make informed decisions and feel more confident in our warranty terms.
For example, if a car battery with a five-year pro rata warranty fails in the third year, you would receive a partial credit towards a new battery, showing how coverage adjusts over time.
Our Rushmore hoop buildings come with a 15-year pro rata warranty on their cover, ensuring long-term support and clarity about your coverage.
